4. NIEDZIELA ADWENTU

„Ukazał mu się Anioł”

     Ewangelia pełna jest cudownych wydarzeń. Anioł zwiastuje Maryi, że pocznie Mesjasza w niezwyczajny sposób. Aniołowie oznajmiają pasterzom Dobrą Nowinę. Gwiazda prowadzi Trzech Mędrców do Nowo Narodzonego. Potem Jezus dokonuje cudów uzdrowień niewidomych, głuchych, sparaliżowanych, trędowatych. A tylko od czasu do czasu pobłyskują wśród nich cuda nawróceń – jawnogrzesznicy, Zacheusza, Mateusza. Jest ich daleko mniej niż tych pierwszych. Bo trudniej o nie.
     Bo prawdziwym cudem jest każda dobroć: gdy człowiek opanuje swój egoizm i użyczy bratu swojemu tego, czego on potrzebuje; gdy zainteresuje się zmartwieniem bliźniego i stara się mu pomóc. Cudem jest, gdy potraktuje drugiego człowieka jak siebie samego.

4th Sunday of Advent

”An Angel appeared to him”

     The Gospel is full of miraculous events.  An angel announces to Mary that she will conceive the Messiah in an extraordinary way.  Angels give the Good News to the shepherds.  A star leads the Three Wise Men to the Newly Born.  Then Jesus performs miracles of healing of the blind, the deaf, the paralyzed, and the lepers.  But only here and there the miracles of conversion glimmer among the other ones – the harlot, Zacheus, or Mathew.  These are much fewer and far between.  It’s because they are more difficult to obtain. 
     Because each act of kindness is a true miracle: when you can conquer your selfishness and give to your brother what he may need, when you take an interest in a neighbor’s trouble and try to help him.  It is a miracle when you treat another man like you’d treat yourself.
