Zdrajca

     Tak potykamy się o jednego człowieka, imieniem Judasz Iskariota. Wytykamy mu, że stał się zdrajcą. Ale przecież się nawrócił. I oddał kapłanom 30 srebrników. I powiedział: „Zgrzeszyłem, wydając krew Sprawiedliwego”. Ale się nawrócił.
     Piotrowi nie wypominamy, że się zaparł Jezusa na dziedzińcu Annasza i Kajfasza przed dziewczyną służebną trzykrotnie. A jeżeli nawet wypominamy, to dodajemy natychmiast: „Ale zapłakał”.
     A apostołom nie wypominamy, że pod krzyżem ich nie było, że na pogrzebie ich nie było, że musiał się Jezus im objawić zmartwychwstały, żeby się nawrócili.
     Ale Judaszowi tego nie zapominamy. I nie darujemy. Chociaż się nawrócił przecież.

Traitor

     And so we stumble over one man named Judas Iscariot.  We point out that he’s become a traitor.  But he converted and returned 30 silver coins to the priests and he said „I have sinned in that I have betrayed the innocent blood”.  So he did convert.
     We don’t rebuke Peter for denying Jesus three times in the Annas’ and Caiaphas’ courtyard in the presence of a servant girl.  And even if we rebuke him we immediately add: “But he cried.”
     We don’t rebuke the apostles for not being under the cross, for not being at the funeral, for the fact that Jesus had to appear risen from the dead for them to convert. 
     But as far as Judas is concerned we will not forget.  And we’ll not forgive.  Even though he did convert.
