8. NIEDZIELA ZWYKŁA

Służyć mamonie?

     Jezus mówi: „Nikt nie może dwom panom służyć. Nie możecie służyć Bogu i Mamonie!” Może spodziewaliśmy się, że Jezus powie: Nie możecie służyć Bogu i szatanowi.
     Cóż to jest mamona? Życie w luksusie w oparciu o duże pieniądze.
     Jezus mówi: „Nie troszczcie się zbytnio o to, co macie jeść i pić, ani o swoje ciało, czym się macie przyodziać. Czyż życie nie znaczy coś więcej niż pokarm, a ciało więcej niż odzienie?”
     A więc prawdziwe życie polega na wypełnieniu swojego powołania rodzinnego i zawodowego. Ta wielka Reszta – pisana dużymi literami – jest ważniejsza niż jedzenie, picie, i ubiór. Ona ma uratować nas od gromadzenia pieniędzy na luksusowe życie. Ta wielka Reszta to prawdziwe życie, do którego Jezus nas zaprasza swoją Ewangelią.
     Ktoś mi powie: „Ale nie do mnie to kazanie. Mnie się nie przelewa. A już nie ma mowy o luksusowym życiu”.
     Tylko czy na pewno? Nie pragniesz życia w luksusie? Nie zazdrościsz tym, co mają takie życie? Nie masz kompleksu z tego powodu? Jeżeli nie wyzwolisz się od tych pożądań, będziesz nieszczęśliwy do końca swoich dni.
     Jezus mówi do nas, że ważne jest życie. Ważniejsze niż jedzenie i picie, niż modny ubiór. Ważne jest królestwo Boże, które budujemy zgodnie z Ewangelią. Nie tylko ważne. Najważniejsze. Ciekawsze. Bogatsze.

8th Sunday of Ordinary Time

     Jesus says: „No one can serve two masters.  You cannot serve God and mammon.”  Perhaps we expected Jesus to say: You cannot serve God and Satan.
     And what is that mammon?  Life of luxury supported by big money. 
Jesus says:  „Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body; what you will wear.  Is not life more important than food, and the body more important than clothes?”
     So the real life consists in fulfillment of ones family calling and professional calling.  The great Rest of It – spelled with capital letters – is more important then food, drink, and clothes.  It is supposed to save us from gathering money for luxurious life.  This great Rest of It – this is the real life to which Jesus invites us by his Gospel.
     Someone will tell me:  „This lecture is not for me.  I am not doing all that well.  And luxurious life is totally out of question”.
     Are you definitely sure?  Don’t you desire life in luxury?  Don’t you envy the ones who live such life?  Don’t you have a complex because of it?  If you don’t free yourself from these desires, you’ll be unhappy till the end of your days. 
     Jesus tells us that what is important is life.  More important than food, and drink, and fashionable clothes.  What is important is the kingdom of God, which we are building in accordance with the Bible.  It’s not only important.  It’s the most important, more interesting, and richer.
