"The one who is in hiding"
Even though the ashes are poured on our heads, we are still alive. Our lives are still in our hands.
And once again we get on our way towards resurrection. We've already got a couple, a few, a dozen or even tens of those roads behind us. Each time we were tested - whether we could rise up to the gift of resurrection.
And on this road we have chosen Jesus Christ as our Friend. We've got - just like He did - our apostles, who demanded remuneration; Peter who denied Him at the time of trial; Judas, the traitor; malicious, eavesdropping Pharisees, but we've got real friends, too: Lazarus, Joseph of Arimathea, and Nicodemus. We are going to encounter joys and sorrows, tragedies and admirations on our way. Despite all, we want to love just like He did, we want to accept defeat and enjoy successes.
Because we are not going towards death, we are going towards resurrection. We are not approaching a precipice; we are approaching heaven.
